FREE album launch plus Isambarde Electric

27th of June 2008, Whitefriars Olde Ale House, Gosford Street, Coventry, CV1 5DL. 8.30pm kick off!

We will be officially launching our new album ‘Living History’ on an unsuspecting public at Whitefriars Olde Ale House in Coventry on 27th June. Whitefriars is that rarest of beasts – a city centre pub that serves fantastic real ale and feels like a pleasant country hostelry. It’s long been one of our favourite watering holes and session venues, so we’re really looking forward to doing a proper gig there.

As well as the usual line-up we’ll also be joined by Rupert de Jonghe on bass and Duncan Arrow on drums, both of whom played on the new album. This is a bit of a departure for us as previously we’ve been avowedly acoustic, but we felt that certain tracks from the new album would really benefit from a bit of extra drive. Initial rehearsals have taken place and we’re really excited about the prospect of fleshing out the sound and re-jigging some of the songs we’ve been doing for the last few years as well the new ones. Who knows – if it works, maybe Isambarde Electric will become a thing of permanence at some of our larger gigs!

Admission to the gig is FREE, but seating is limited so arrive in plenty of time if you’re planning to sit down! There’s a public car park round the back of the pub which costs a nominal 50p for the whole evening. Hope to see you there!

Hurrah for the lovely new website!

Ta daah! May we have the honour of unveliing our shiny new website. Those of you who have followed us over the years will know that our designer likes to give us a makeover every time we make a new album (or indeed every time he gets bored with the last one).

As ever, we remain indebted to Sugary Tea (aka Mark Plastow) for his sweat and toil in cyberspace. We’d also like to thank our photographer James Harris for all the nice new pics of us up on the site. Enjoy!

Isambarde are proud to present two sample rough masters from our forthcoming album Living History. Call in at IsamSpace: www.myspace.com/isambarde and you’ll find them there…

The first track is Mary and the Soldier/The Durham Rangers. All parts are played by members of the band apart from drums. We couldn’t afford to hire the entire Edinburgh Tattoo for the recording so we got in our mate Duncan Arrow whose kit noise is comparable…

The second track is Just As The Tide Was Flowing. Rupert Dejonghe is on double bass and long hair.

We would also like to thank Dawn Ward (trumpet and flugel) and Dave Morgan (trombone) for putting down brass tracks at painfully short notice.

Watch this space for a release date…
That’s all for now.

Re Cambridge Folk Club on the 14/3/08
Also: Cambridge FC at Cambridge FC!

We'll be doing this gig as a two piece (Chris and Jude) as Emily is horribly unwell and has lost her voice. We'll do as much of the usual Isambarde repertoire as possible and throw in some more early music as well! Please also note the change of venue to Cambridge City Football Ground due to refurbishment at The Golden Hind.

Get well soon Em...

26th August 2007

Isambarde are now on the excellent folk music website www.tradmusic.com. Rather than waffling on about how great it is, we think you should click on the link and look for yourself. Job done!

RECORDING FEVER HITS THE BARDIES!

It’s that time of year again where Isambarde find themselves compelled to go back in the studio and record something new. We’ll keep you up to date as and when CD release things happen…

As if making an album wasn’t hard enough, Emily is about to record her first solo EP with Phil Beer – hurrah! Watch this space folks...

Keep dry until the next time

BRUNEL IS BACK!

You may have noticed that we've been out of stock of our old album Brunel's Kingdom. We’ve just received a new batch, so if you pop along to the Isambarde shop you'll see it's back on the aisles...

Wishing you all lots of bank holiday fun

4th April 2007

April sees the start of our mini tour supporting musical wiz Phil Beer and the lovely Miranda Sykes. Keep an eye out for tickets as they are selling fast – so fast infact, that Norden Farm Centre For the Arts decided to have two concerts on the same day (4pm and 8pm)!

In other news, we are thrilled to announce that our Em is playing a couple of dates with Show of Hands. She’ll be joining Show of Hands plus special guests on the 6th at the Gosport and Fareham Easter Festival. On the 8th she’ll be playing with Show of Hands at some tiny little venue the locals call the Royal Albert Hall in London. Chris and Jude will be in the queue outside for tickets – throw them a penny if you spot them!

HAPPY EASTER FOLKS!
