Rupert started playing the piano at about 11 and later took up the double bass when he was tall enough to carry it.

Rupert started playing electric bass at about 16, after realising that it had the same strings as a double bass and was a lot easier to carry.

After playing in youth windbands and orchestras touring various countries and performing with various rock soul and pop bands, he went on to study music at City University in London. He spent some time with different bands in London until running out of money and moving back to the midlands.

After being lured into the studio with the promise of lunch and a pint if he played the right notes for a track on Isambarde's third album, Rupert was honoured to join the band for the new Isambarde Electric project.
